Madrona Point the Maze

Dive Site Directory> Madrona Point Overview> Madrona Pt the Maze

The Maze at Madrona Point is just one more excellent reason why this multiple dive site location is one of the best shore dive sites in Nanoose Bay, and even the whole of Vancouver Island.

Located an easy one half hour drive north of Nanaimo BC, this site boasts a dive profile for every level of experience.

This great intermediate dive can be done as a sole dive, or as an add on as there is lots to see and explore among the large rock formations that make up this site.
Cruising around and through all of these underwater contours makes for an awesome dive.

The max depth for this dive is around 60ft, so it fits well for the open water certified, but it is a great dive for any level.

You can enter the water at either the "Big V" or the "Little V", and then take roughly a zero, or north heading.

See Map below.

Quite often there will be a curious sea lion or two that will come and check you out. Too cool!

You will find many types of marine life to see and photograph if that's your intent, or just cruise along amongst the large boulders.

Lots of fish, Anemones, Nudibranchs, Crabs, you name it! even an occasionally Octopus.

When you are done, a simple 180 degree turn get's you back to shore.

When done as an add on dive, most will swim down the left or west side of the maze on their way to explore the Main Wall, and then return back through the interesting rock formations while heading back for their safety stop.

Either way if you have time, be sure to thoroughly check out this interesting and aptly named site at Madrona Point.

No matter your level of experience, you will not be disappointed!

Enjoy and dive safe.
