"PADI stands for "Professional Association of Diving Instructors" and if you are going diving anywhere, it is always best to choose a certified PADI facility. SDI/TDI (Scuba Diving International) is also a good alternative.

There are three dive shops in Nanaimo, all offering excellent Sales, Service, Instruction, Guided Diving, Charters, and most important, sincere, friendly advice.

SundownDiving, Nanaimo Dive Outfitters, and Sink or Swim Scuba all offer qualified instruction for beginners, and right on up to advanced instruction of certified PADI diving courses.

(Ed at Sundown also offer's technical training as a "TDI" Technical Diving International instructor, and is the king of repairs, possessing the inventory and skills to fix most anything!

The three shops are fully stocked with equipment to either buy or rent,  offering regular air fills, or NITROX blends as required (You must be certified for ''NITROX'' to purchase a blend).

You can also get certified maintenance and repairs to your scuba equipment (including dry suits), as well as tank inspections, and hydrostatic testing, at most locations.

Ed Singer at Sundown is also a commercial diver, offering all manner of commercial diving services along with his dedicated staff. Ed and Mark will meet any of your underwater repair, inspection, or salvage needs.

Ed has trained extensively in equipment repair, trust him to be the most experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to different manufacturers makes and models. Tank inspections and Hydro testing available.

"fun dives"  are posted most weekends, where ''All'' are welcome,
with groups of divers (led by Dive Masters) heading to local dive sites.

The shops also schedule mini vacations to some of the more special locations here on Vancouver Island.

Browning Pass off of Port Hardy on the north end of Vancouver island has some of the best diving on the planet, or Hornby Island  which is the north/central island has Flora Islet where the six gill sharks occasionally make an appearance, or even Barclay Sound on the west coast is another of Vancouver Islands best dive destinations.

If you are a diver but have not donned a dry suit to visit the temperate waters surrounding Vancouver Island, you may be missing out.

The diving here is spectacular, and seriously, a dry suit keeps you warm, so buddy up and lets go :-)
